Obituary of Virginia Frankfather

Virginia Ellen Frankfather, age 93, of Sapulpa, passed away February 10, 2016 at St. John’s hospital in Tulsa of natural causes. Brave, strong, stubborn, smart, funny, artistic are just some of the words that could be used to describe our beloved Mother and Meme. She was born to Charles Elmer and Clinnie Ellen (Webb) Gibbons in Jenks, Oklahoma on September 18, 1922. She married Ralph Wilson Frankfather on September 23, 1939. They were married for 63 years before his death in 2002. Virginia worked as an artist for 40 years at Bartlett-Collins Glass Company. She was an active member of her church, First Baptist Church of Sapulpa. Even at 93 years old she was still an active member of the community, volunteering at a local food bank once a week.

Virginia was preceded in death by husband Ralph Wilson Frankfather, son Clifton Brent Frankfather, brothers Clifton Elmer Gibbons, Ralph Gibbons, sisters Ethel L. Osborn and Edna Rhoda Barber, and both of her parents.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Kimberly and husband Chris Andersen of Covington La., son Ralph David Frankfather of Vinita, OK; her grandchildren Timothy and wife Heather Turner of La Vernia, TX; Mark Turner, Johnson City, TN; Sarah and husband Bryan Smith of Tulsa; Jill Underwood of Sapulpa; and Jeremy Underwood of Sapulpa; her seven great- grandchildren, Sky-Lynn, Kimberly, Timothy, Deja, Shelby, Tyner and Zachary and too many honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren to list.

The family would like to thank the staff of St John’s Hospital for the compassionate care they showed Virginia in the month of her life.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home, 400 East Teel Rd, Sapulpa, OK 74066. Visitation is scheduled at Green Hill on Tuesday from 10 am until 8 pm.
