Lula Belle "Chic" Hewett, 95, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Hamlin. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Donny Harbers officiating and burial in Fairview Cemetery at Tuxedo. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church under the direction of Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.

Chic was born January 7, 1915, in Grayson County to Victor Lewis and Kate (Skinner) Goodwin. She married E.A. "Tudor" Hewett on December 7, 1932, in Anson. Chic was a sales clerk at Waggoner Drug Store in Hamlin for sixteen years and also a homemaker. She was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed oil painting, collecting antiques, and reciting wonderful stories. When Chic was much younger she was a great basketball and softball player. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Chic is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson (Shannon Hewett) and eleven brothers and sisters.
Chic is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clark and Mary Hewett of Tyler and Ken and Louise Hewett of Wharton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to First Baptist Church in Hamlin, P.O. Box 8, Hamlin, TX 79520.
